Some forum members may know that I am building a model railway which hopefully depi0ct a section of Vietnam Railways. Originally it was just a small diorama/module but it has grown into a full size layout measuring about 4 metres long. It's in N scale 1:150, which is Japanese N Scale. While the track isn't exactly metre gauge it does look slightly narrow gauge. My biggest problems are getting my hands on scale plans of lôcmotives, coaches and freight vehicles, so I have had to modify other models to look like the real thing.
Below are some photos of the layout now. As you can see there is still a lot to do.
Regards

Your model so beautiful, but I thing not only you can not find any locomotives, coach look like real thing in Viẹtnam Railways, I've ever travel to many coutries but can not find too, hope that you can find some loco made by Vietnamese :)
David,
About the loco, you may have more chance with steam train. I would love to have a scene with a Corpet Louvet and the colonial period station.

Hi Ozguy,
Nice going with your section of Vietnam railways. I believe the scenery should be further enhanced to give a true feel of Vietnam nowadays. Comments include:
1. The roofing should be modified. Some with concrete, some with tiles, the others with aluminium covering that they called Ausnam, a product of Aussi-VN joint venture, nice huh ?
2. Lots of adverts from beer (not VB I believe) to cosmetics, restaurants, cafes, hotels in every size, colour, every way, every where, really messy...
3. Lots and lots of scooters in all colours and more importantly, moving in ALL directions (traffic rule/law does exist anyway), jamming the streets and at both sides of the crossing, waiting for the train moving in.
If you've been to VN, then you have a feel. If not, then get Google for some photos on the topic.
I think with all of that, even your locos and rolling stocks are not really matching, you definitely GOT IT.
I am doing N myself. Hope the above might help.
Happy railroading.

All of the changes you have noted are good. I am going to have to kitbash or scratchbuild all of the locomotives and most of the coaches and freight vehicles. Some freight wagons such as container wagons, tank cars and open wagons are very similar to some US types, so I am using those until I can build better ones.
The container wagons below have been repainted DSVN blue, the boxcar is US and the open wagon is an unfinished kitbash.

I am currently attempting to build an XT brake van from styrene.

I am also making some buildings look more like those in VN:

I am also working on scenery:

It all takes time of course. I have been to Vietnam three times and will be returning again next week. My Vietnamese partner has also been very helpfull.
