The class TU7E
As a part of the 1970s-programme to modernise the Cuban sugar industry, Russia sent light diesel locomotives to Russia. At this periode of time, the Kambarka factory in Russia had just started the serie production of a standardised four-axle bogie dieselhydraulic locomotive.
http://www.home.zonnet.nl/p.engelbert/cuba/cai434-4.jpg
This type is known as the class TU7. T stands for "Teplovoz" (diesel locomotive); U for "Uzkokolej" (narrow gauge) and 7 simply indicates that this is the seventh type of narrow gauge diesel locomotive in Russia. Most components are of a standardised design. Kambarka-built class TU6, TU6A, TU6P, TU8, TU8P and TGM40 diesel locomotives very much look the same as a TU7.

Serie production of the class TU7 commenced in 1972 and continued until 1988. The modernised version (TU7A) has even been constructed until Summer 1994. Between 1970 and 1994 at least 3220 locomotives of these types rolled out of the factory.
Most TU7s went to 750mm gauge industrial, forestry and peat railways throughout the Soviet Union. Dozens worked on 750mm gauge public railways, where they should replace the well-known class TU2 diesel locomotives, but did not succeed in doing so. Today many TU7s and the somewhat modernised and more powerfull TU7A can be found in countries which used to be part of the USSR.
In late 1974 Kambarka also started to export this class to Cuba. TU7s intended for export were numbered as class TU7E (the added E standing for Export). Noticeably some publications speak of the class TY73, which can be explained as a false transliteration of the cyrillic characters.
The running numbers are independent of the class designation. If a TU7 was exported, only "TU7" was replaced by "TU7E" and the locomotive kept its original running number. The running numbers may be interpreted as factory numbers withing a specific type of locomotive and all its subtypes (in this case the classes TU7, TU7E, TU7A and TU7AE). Kambarka also exported TU7s to other countries.

Parameters of the class TU7E in Cuba Principal dimensions
Length of the body: 9.400 mm
Width of the body 2.450 mm
Height above head of rail: 3.550 mm
Distance between bogies 4.700 mm
Base of bogies 1.400 mm
Diameter of wheels: 600 mm
Minimum curve radius: 40 m
Total weight: 24 tons
Axle-load: 5 tons
Possible gauges: 705 - 1435 mm *1)

Rated power: 400HP
Operating speed: 500 - 1560 r/min
Transmission hydraulic (UGP400-650)
Wheel formula B'B'

*1) TU7E's could be supplied with standard bogies for 750-1067mm; the 705mm and 1435mm gauge bogies seen under some TU7E's in Cuba are custom-made. In some cases the boogies have been regauged following the regauging of the network the locomotive worked on.
According to Chris Capewell CUba also received 5 class TGM25 diesel engines (MINAZ 34036-34040). This is the broad-gauge version of the TU7 but they run on standard gauge in Cuba.

Sakuraluu,
Many thanks for the great post, although i did notice a few mistakes !! in the first part you list all the locomotive types and which countries they are from, you missed out the D13E Indian, but put the D11H as Indian and it should have been Romanian !!
Now that you have lots of infomation on the D4H, is it possible to list all the D4H by numbers that DSVN ever had, or can you list all the D4H that are still working in Vietnam ?
I did post the quetions for Hanoi on the D11H and DV11H thread and i should have done this on a new thread, i am sorry for this.
I loôk forward to your postings

Sakuraluu,
Many thanks for posting the list from 2006 do you have a list yet for 2009 ? which includes the D4H locomotives ? Also you say that there is now twenty D20E, so originally you had 16 i think so you have four more extra locomotives now, do you have delivery dates for these loco's ?
With the D19E the lists says 60 locmotives, so these are from 901 to 960 ?
Also when i was in Vietnam you only had two D10E which were rebuilt D9's how many do you plan to have in total, ??
This is good infomation and i am working hảd to put all this together in a new list like the one i sent to you some time ago,
Keep up the good work, and i look forward to seeing more of your postings !!!!

From 2006 untill now, Vietnam Railways do not buy any locomotives except 04 D20E so list from 2006 and 2009 not so much change. I will check the delivery date later.

- About D19E: yes, 901-960 at only Hanoi Depot and Saigon Depot have this kind of locos: Hanoi Depot: 901-910, 921-940 (total 30 locos) and some D19E that need to repair from Saigon Depot, other at Saigon (30 locos).

- As my friends in Gia Lam Locomotive Depot said: they import 15 CAT engine but D10E do not need only engine, this one need more thing so untill nơ they have only 02 D10E.

- D4H now: Vietnam Railways do not using this kind of loco in main line, that only in station, in coal mine, iron mine.... when you arrival Hanoi you saw at Hanoi Depot: all of D4H of Hanoi Station Area was abandon inside Hanoi Depot. Last month I visited again Hanoi Depot and saw that all D4H disappeared, the manager said that all of 05 D4H was sold for a coal mine in Quang Ninh province.

Information of Moon about locos in Danang Depot now

D11H Rumanian, 23 locos: 306, 307, 309, 319, 325, 326, 331, 332, 336, 339, 340, 345, 346, 347, 348, 349, 350, 351, 353, 354, 356, 357, 358.
D20E: 001 - 016
D12E: 12 locos : 629, 632, 633, 635, 638, 639, 640, 651, 652, 653, 654, 659.
D9E - GE: 4 locos: 222, 229, 235, 241.

Sakuraluu,
Thanks for the great infomation, another question for you, when the locomotives leave DSVN like the D4H from Hanoi which have gone to the coal mine do they still keep thể DSVN numbers on there cab sides ? If they do, do you have a list of all the locomotives that are working in the industrial scene, such as coal mines, steel works, dock yards, or any other industrial plants,
Also on the list at the top of this thread theres no total number for the D9E's do we know how many locomotives there are in thí class ?
Keep up the great work with the forum !!!!!!

Your question so hard to answer because of number, quanlity of all loco outside Vietnam Railways we do not have any information, all of my information base on my friends, who are working in Hanoi Depot, Gia Lam Factory, they are reparing, maintain locos for coal mines in Quang Ninh province. Not so much people know about steam locos that still using inside Steel Factory.
Did you remember CK6 loco inside Yen Vien Station we has been seen when you was in Vietnam???, do not have any staff of Vietnam Railways know about this loco, quanlity....

I will try to check but will not sure about quantity of this D4H. Now Hanoi Depot only have 04 D4H locos available (newest news) using inside Depot, Gia Lam Station, Giap Bat Station.
